The Prop D Debate: Wed, October 21, 2009,

Proponents and opponents of the most controversial ballot initiative going before voters this November have been invited to next week's SoMa Leadership Council meeting to debate the measure. Proposition D, which would create a special sign district along Market Street, is sponsored by David Addington, the owner of the Warfield Theater properties, and opposed by San Francisco Beautiful.

"Combat blight and renew area tourism by creating a safe, well-lit corridor for pedestrians between mid-Market and the Civic Center," argue those supporting the initiative.

"The extreme presence of billboards along those two blocks could destroy prospects for fully restoring the whole of Market Street, San Francisco's grand boulevard, to a world-class standard," counters the opponents.

Haven't made up your mind yet? Bring your questions and comments to next Wednesday's meeting.
